Thistledown's Iona Jaxon
Iona is a sleek and shiny, half-Peruvian, jet black Jaxon / Danko granddaughter. CPeruvian Jaxon is a nationally renowned black Peruvian herdsire and Danko is possibly the top grey herdsire in the country. Her dam is Hisami, an extremely fine true black Danko daughter (20.3 AFD @ 11 months), with beautiful soft-handled fleece, a lovely typey head, very nice conformation and a friendly, curious nature. Iona's maternal grandmother is a "blue black" Macintosh daughter, with two generations of black in her background and an AFD of 24.4 at 4 years of age. Iona's sire is the 4X Champion true black Peruvian CPeruvian Axtion Jaxon, who has a remarkable show record and superfine, crimpy fleece. In his first year AJ's fiber analysis was AFD 18.4, SD 3.7, CV 20.0, >30 1.4%, which is phenomenal for a true black, and he has won numerous first place and Championship ribbons in major halter and fleece competitions, including first place black fleece at the 2003 AOBA National Fleece Show. Iona was bred with our award-winning Peruvian Presidio son, Tundra, in Fall 2007.

Awards: Iona won a blue ribbon at her first show, in a juvenile shorn class at the Virginia State Fair in September 2005, and second place in a yearling shorn class at MaPaca in 2006.

Dam: Hisami 		Iona was over 20lbs at birth, and at one week old, she weighed 26lbs, a testament to her mother's amazing milking abilities. She has beautiful soft-handled, glossy, fine black fiber, and is as black as coal, with absolutely no bleaching of her cria tips, and no sign of any other color anywhere on her body.

Iona's dam, Hisami, is a beautiful true black daughter of Danko, the grey herdsire from Alpacas de la Patagonia whose offspring have set auction price records and taken ribbons in every showring. She has extremely fine (20.3 AFD), soft-handled fleece, and comes from a solid black and grey lineage. Her dam is a "blue black" Macintosh daughter, with two generations of black in her background and a micron of 24.4 at 4 years of age. Hisami proved herself to be a powerhouse of a mother, giving birth to her first cria without assistance in only 5 minutes, and nurturing her to over 70lbs in just 5 short months! Hisami is the dam of one of our favorite show quality girls, the dark silver grey Ishbel.

Iona at 1 week old 		Iona is sired by the multiple award-winning true black CPeruvian Axtion Jaxon, a.k.a. "AJ", a son of CPeruvian Jaxon, the nationally recognized black herdsire. 

Axtion Jaxon's Awards: AJ won first place halter and Reserve Champion true black at Estes Park in 2001. In 2002 he won first place halter and Reserve Champion true black at Phoenix, AZ, a blue ribbon in halter and Reserve Champion at Santa Fe, NM, and a first place in composite in Denver, CO. In 2003 AJ took the first place black fleece award at the AOBA National Fleece Show in Las Vegas, first place and Reserve Color Champion at the SouthWest Regional Alpaca Show in Phoenix, and first place in the adult true black class at the Great Western Alpaca show, Denver.

McGinnis 		Iona is currently bred with the Champion rose grey McGinnis for her Spring 2007 cria. His dam is a daughter of PPPeruvian Augusto and a granddaughter of Peruvian Hemingway, and McGinnis is a son of the medium rose grey Quincy. McGinnis's fiber is very fine and crimpy, with wonderful handle. He also has excellent conformation and a very typey huacaya head. He is the proud sire of both the grey Color Champion female at the 2004 AOBA Nationals and the 2005 grey Futurity Champion female.

McGinnis's awards: AOBA 2002, first place rose grey yearling male halter class, and first place Fiber Spin-Off (judge's comments, "beautiful" and "a pleasure to spin"). PAOBA 2002, first place grey yearling male halter, Reserve Champion Grey Color Class. 2004 PAOBA 2nd place Get of Sire, beaten only by a white accoyo male!
