LZD Tundra

Our full Peruvian herdsire, Tundra, is an excellent white male with wonderful conformation, coverage and presence. To complete the package, he has a beautiful fleece, with extreme character, luster, bundling and great density. Produced from the ideal match, breeding Marcela, the dam of "Show Me The Money" and "Silver Dollar", to Presidio, an outstanding Caligula son, we are hoping that Tundra will produce color - his dam and sire have already produced some of the best colored alpacas in the nation. Presidio already has 6 "Get of Sire" wins to his credit and was 2nd in "Get of Sire" at the 2004 National Show. His crias had won over 50 color championships and 80 blue ribbons at Level 3+ shows by the time Presidio was only 7 years old, firmly establishing him among the elite ranks of prepotent sires. Marcela's two colored boys, "Mo" and the grey "Silver Dollar", are both exceptional colored herdsires, renowned for throwing top-of-the-line greys. In his first three shows, Tundra demonstrated that he too is destined for greatness, placing second in three very large, white, full-fleece halter classes, the most competitive classes of the alpaca world!

Awards: 2nd Place in a class of 12 White Yearling Males, and part of Presidio's 6th blue ribbon-winning "Get of Sire" class, 2004 MOPACA show. 2nd Place in a class of 12 White Yearling Males, 2004 Ft. Worth. 2nd Place in a class of 13 White Juvenile Males, 2003 Great Western Alpaca Show, Denver CO. Tundra's fiber was awarded a blue ribbon in the white class of the 2005 Virginia Classic Handcrafter's SpinOff competition, a red ribbon at National level in the 2005 AOBA Handcrafters' SpinOff competition, and a first place at the VAOBA Alpaca Expo SpinOff competition. In 2007 his fourth shearing won another blue ribbon out of four entries in his age group at the Virginia Classic SpinOff.

Sire, Peruvian Presidio
Tundra is a high end white male, with wonderful conformation and fleece, a perfect bite and the potential to produce outstanding offspring. If he throws color too, it will be the icing on the cake! His sire, Presidio, has a light fawn dam with vicuna markings from the Macusani region of Peru, whose coloring allows Presidio to pass the dam's color through to his crias. Presidio's sire is the world class Caligula, now deceased, whose exceptional bloodline is well represented on the West Coast, but not so easy to find here in the East. Presidio sheared 11.9 lbs at 5 years of age, of which 7.9 lbs was prime blanket.

Presidio's awards: First Place "Get of Sire" 2002 Kentucky Classic, 2002 and 2001 Estes Park Wool Market, 2003 Southwest Regional Show and Utah Wild West Show, 2004 MOPACA Show. First Place Fleece (highest Huacaya score of all fleece entered) at the 1999 AOBA National Show, First Place Fleece 2000 Estes Park Wool Market, First Place Fleece 2001 AOBA Handspinners Competition.

Dam, PPeruvian Marcela

Tundra, Feb 2004
Tundra's dam, Marcela, is an exceptional foundation female, who even at 12 years of age sheared over 5lbs of fleece with virtually no guard hair. She produced a nationally recognised grey herdsire when bred to the Silversmith, plus the renowned fawn herdsire "Show Me the Money" out of Royal Fawn, who also throws grey when bred to grey. One of Marcela's daughters produced rose grey when bred to grey and another daughter, Jewel, when bred to the white Accoyo Yupanqui, produced the light fawn Bronwen, who has dark markings around her eyes, nose, mouth and feet. Bronwen's first cria was a solid, true black!

We are delighted to bring Tundra and his exceptional bloodlines to the South East, especially now that his sire, Presidio, is no longer available for outside breedings!
